James Beard award winner Adrian Miller will be at the Grandview Yard Giant Eagle Market District for a book signing & meet and greet! He will also be doing a 30 minute cooking demonstration.
Miller is a food writer, attorney and certified barbecue judge who lives in Denver, CO. He describes himself as a “recovering lawyer and politico who turned into a food writer interested in the following topics: African heritage food (especially soul food), barbecue, the intersection of faith and food, and presidential foodways.”
Miller’s first book, Soul Food: The Surprising Story of an American Cuisine, One Plate at a Time won the James Beard Foundation Award for Scholarship and Reference in 2014. His second book, The President’s Kitchen Cabinet: The Story of the African Americans Who Have Fed Our First Families, From the Washingtons to the Obamas was published on President’s Day, 2017, and it has been nominated for a 2018 NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Literary Work—Non-Fiction.”
Adrian is also a culinary historian and a certified barbecue judge who has lectured around the country on such topics as: Black Chefs in the White House, chicken and waffles, hot sauce, kosher soul food, red drinks, soda pop, and soul food.
